Liquid crystal display |
abstract |
It is an object of the present invention to provide a liquid crystal display device using a liquid crystal material exhibiting a blue phase which enables higher contrast.n n n In the liquid crystal display device including the liquid crystal layer showing the blue phase, the liquid crystal layer showing the blue phase is sandwiched between the pixel electrode layer having the opening pattern and the common electrode layer having the opening pattern (slit). By applying an electric field between the pixel electrode layer and the common electrode layer having an opening pattern and sandwiching the liquid crystal, an electric field in an oblique direction (a direction inclined with respect to the substrate) is applied to the liquid crystal. Molecules can be controlled. |
