abstract |
The present invention provides a method of reducing damage by reactive oxygen species (ROS) in an animal. The present invention also provides a method of lowering the concentration of metal in an animal. The method comprises administering to the animal an effective amount of a metal binding compound described in detail herein. The invention also provides a method for reducing damage by ROS in tissues or organs isolated from an animal. The method comprises contacting the tissue or organ with a solution comprising an effective amount of the metal binding compound of the present invention. The invention further provides a kit comprising a novel metal binding compound, a pharmaceutical composition comprising said metal binding compound and a container holding the metal binding compound of the invention. |
