The present invention relates to both alpha-1-antitrypsin (also known as AAT, alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor, API, and A1-PI) and apolipoprotein AI (ApoA-I), eg, fractions of human plasma. To a method for separating and purifying proteins from cellulose. In some embodiments, the present invention provides a method for separating AAT from ApoA-I in the early stages of purification, allowing the same starting material to be used as a source for both proteins. The present invention further relates to providing compositions of AAT and ApoA-I suitable for pharmaceutical use and suitable for large scale tablets. |
