An elastic material for use in an absorbent article is provided. The elastic material is a crosslinked network formed from branched block copolymers (eg, butadiene-styrene-butadiene ("BSB") triblock copolymers) with monoalkenyl aromatic intermediate blocks located between conjugated diene end blocks It contains. Prior to crosslinking, the branched block copolymers have a relatively low viscosity and can therefore be easily formed into precursor elastic materials (eg, films, strands, webs, etc.) and then crosslinked to achieve the desired elastic and mechanical properties. Crosslinking is usually accomplished through the formation of free radicals (hol electrons) that are linked together and form a plurality of carbon-carbon covalent bonds in the conjugated diene end block. |
