abstract | The present invention relates to a process for preparing gamma-butyrolactone from a 1,4-butanediol-containing feed and to a catalyst used therein, more specifically to a high purity 1 From crude 1,4-butanediol containing not only, 4-butanediol, but also various impurities, in particular, acetal-type impurities, gamma-butyrolactone is represented by the following formula (1) which can stably produce a high yield for a long time. And a process for preparing gamma-butyrolactone from crude 1,4-butanediol under said catalyst:n n n [Formula 1]n n n CuO (a) M1 (b) M2 (c) SiO 2 (d)n n n Wheren n n M 1 represents an oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of cobalt (Co), zinc (Zn), chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni) and ruthenium (Ru);n n n M2 represents an oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), barium (Ba), tellurium (Te) and selenium (Se);n n n (a), (b), (c) and (d) are percentages based on the weight of the catalyst and range from 50 to 90%, 0.1 to 15%, 0.001 to 5% and 9 to 40%, respectively. |
