titleOfInvention Scrambling Methods for Synchronization Channels
abstract Systems and methods are provided that facilitate the creation and detection of synchronization channels in a wireless communication system. A one-to-one relationship is established between the first set of synchronization channel (P-SCH) sequences and the set of scrambling codes (SC) determined by the reusable sector identifier determined through detection of the P-SCH channel. The set of scrambling codes can either (i) scramble the second synchronization channel sequence to facilitate detection of the S-SCH sequence if a reusable sector identifier is detected, or (ii) an unscrambled S through sequential or interleaved association of SCs. May be used to construct a -SCH sequence, where the association indication is received at the mobile terminal. Cyclic shifts and sign-flip operations applied to the basic sequence are used to generate the SCs. The library and lookup table of SCs facilitate scrambling of code decisions at the mobile terminal receiving the associated P-SCH and S-SCH sequences.
