The present invention provides a nucleic acid molecule encoding a polypeptide consisting of two methionine residues as first and second n-terminal amino acid residues linked to mature eukaryotic histones via peptide bonds. The present invention relates to a vector containing the nucleic acid molecule, a host modified by the vector, a polypeptide encoded by the nucleic acid molecule, and a pharmaceutical and diagnostic composition. The invention also relates to the use of nucleic acid molecules, vectors, hosts and polypeptides for the preparation of compositions for the treatment of diseases. The invention also relates to a method or kit for examining the presence of a nucleic acid or polypeptide in a sample.n n n n Bis-met histones, eukaryotic cells, nucleic acid molecules, polypeptides |
