Disclosed is an antimicrobial composition containing Schisandra chinensis extract and a benzoic acid compound isolated from the extract as an active ingredient.n n n Antimicrobial compositions containing benzoic acid-based compounds as active ingredients include bad breath-causing bacteria (Streptococcus mutans), gum inflammation-causing bacteria (Streptococcus sanguinis, Streptococcus sanguis) and periodontal disease-causing bacteria (Porphyromonas gingivalis). Excellent antimicrobial activity against oral anaerobic bacteria (Fusobacterium nucleatum subspecies nucleatum). In addition, it is stable at high temperatures and can be added to functional foods processed at a wide range of temperatures to prevent tooth decay and oral disease. |
