titleOfInvention | Fluorescence-based Assay to Detect Compounds That Control Sodium-Calcium Exchanger (NCC) in “Forward Mode” |
abstract | Transporters are an emerging target class with enormous potential and offer scientific and practical opportunities. Sodium / calcium exchanger is an important mechanism for removing Ca 2 + from diverse cells. In the heart, wherein the sodium / calcium exchanger is naemyeo push the Ca 2 + entered via the Ca 2 + channels to initiate contraction, Na + enters the heart cell. It is of considerable importance to identify compounds that modulate the activity of the sodium / calcium exchanger. The present invention relates to fluorescence-based assays for detecting compounds that modulate NCX in a "forward mode". The present invention also relates to a kit of parts comprising cells expressing NCX and the use of a kit of parts for testing a compound for activity as an agonist or antagonist of NCX. |
