titleOfInvention Absorbent Articles, Absorbent Core Manufacturing Methods, Absorbent Core Materials and Sanitary Napkins
abstract The absorbent article includes a topsheet coupled to the backsheet and has an absorbent core material disposed therebetween, wherein the absorbent core material is a fibrous absorbent material that exhibits discrete ridges or out-of-plane deformations on one side thereof. In one aspect, the ridges form a continuous network of channels, the channels forming void regions adjacent the topsheet of the sanitary napkin. In another aspect, the absorbent core material includes a fibrous airlaid nonwoven web that includes cellulose fibers and includes a plurality of discrete out-of-plane deformations having a first density and having a second density less than the first density. The invention also relates to a method of making an absorbent core material.
