abstract | The present invention provides a nanoparticle for passing the blood-brain barrier (BBB) comprising (a) an inorganic nanoparticle core and a water-soluble multifunctional organic ligand coated on the surface of the nanoparticle core and (b) ) Brain brain imaging composition and (c) brain-targeting pharmaceutical composition. The basic strategy adopted by the present invention is based on the discovery that the water-soluble multifunctional organic ligand coated on the nanoparticle core enables efficient blood brain barrier passage of the nanoparticles. When the inorganic nanoparticle core is coated with the water-soluble multifunctional organic ligand, it can efficiently cross the blood brain barrier without using a conventional adjuvant, and thus can be used as an effective brain imaging agent and drug delivery system to the brain. |
