titleOfInvention | Biaxially oriented metallocene-based polypropylene film with reduced thickness |
abstract | Polymer films having improved barrier properties against water vapor and oxygen and thicknesses of up to 10 microns are formed from biaxially oriented polypropylene films of isotactic polypropylene. This polypropylene is prepared by the polymerization of propylene in the presence of an isospheric metallocene catalyst. The film has a water vapor permeability of less than about 2.5 g / m 2 days / 25 μm and an O 2 permeability of less than about 2200 cc / m 2 days / 25 μm. This film also has a haze characteristic of less than about 1%. This polypropylene contains 0.1-1% of 2,1-insertion and has a stereoregularity of at least 96% mesopentad. The isotactic polypropylene thus produced is extruded into a sheet, which is biaxially oriented by stressing the sheet with a draw ratio of about 6: 1 or more in the transverse direction in the transverse and long axis directions, and about 4: 1 or more in the transverse direction do. |
