abstract | Provided are liquid crystal compounds having stability against heat, light, and the like, exhibiting a liquid crystal phase in a wide temperature range, having a low viscosity, suitable optical anisotropy, large dielectric anisotropy, and excellent compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds. A liquid crystal composition having adequate optical anisotropy and dielectric anisotropy, low threshold voltage, high nematic phase upper limit, and low lower limit temperature is provided. Provided is a liquid crystal display device having a short response time, low power consumption and driving voltage, large contrast, and usable in a wide temperature range.n n n For example, in the side chain, such as trans-4 '-[3,5-difluoro-4- (3,3,3-trifluoropropenyl) phenyl] -trans-4-propylbicyclohexyl The halogenobenzene derivative which has a trifluoro propenyl group or a trifluoro propynyl group is used as a liquid crystalline compound. It is set as the liquid crystal composition containing the compound which is this derivative. It is set as the liquid crystal display element which uses this liquid crystal composition. |
