titleOfInvention | Foaming compositions and methods of making the same |
abstract | A foaming composition is provided comprising a particulate component having a plurality of internal voids containing a captured supercritical fluid having a critical temperature of about 10 ° C. or more. Also provided are methods of making such foaming compositions. A supercritical fluid having a critical temperature of about 10 [deg.] C. or more is brought into contact with a particulate component comprising a plurality of internal voids having a glass transition temperature higher than the ambient temperature at a temperature higher than the glass transition temperature of the particulate component. The particulate component is maintained at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of the particulate component for a time effective to allow the supercritical fluid to migrate into the plurality of internal voids of the particulate component. The temperature is then lowered below the glass transition temperature of the particulate component to trap at least a portion of the supercritical fluid into the plurality of internal voids of the particulate component. |
