titleOfInvention Organic Hybrid Planar-Nanocrystalline Bulk Heterojunctions
abstract The photosensitive optoelectronic device having the improved hybrid planar bulk heterojunction includes a plurality of photoconductive materials 950 disposed between the anode 120 and the cathode 170. The photoconductive material 950 includes a first continuous layer 152 of donor material and a second continuous layer 154 of acceptor material. The first network 953c of the donor material or materials extends from the first continuous layer 152 to the second continuous layer 154 to provide a continuous path for hole conduction in the first continuous layer 152. A second network 953b of acceptor material or materials extends from the second continuous layer 154 toward the first continuous layer 152 to provide a continuous path for electron conduction to the second continuous layer 154. The first network 953c and the second network 953b are intertwined. One or more other photoconductive materials 953a, 953d are interspersed between entangled networks. The other photoconductive material or materials 953a and 953d have different absorption spectra from the donor and acceptor materials.
