A novel injectable composition containing propofol (2,6-diisopropylphenol) and a process for its preparation are provided. Novel injectable compositions containing propofol include propofol at a concentration of 1 to 2% weight / volume (% w / v), poloxamer 188 at a concentration of 6 to 15% weight / volume, and a macro of 0.2 to 1% weight / volume concentration.
