Polycarbonate to produce extruded films that are substantially free of surface defects |
abstract |
Linear polycarbonate resins are disclosed that are substantially free of surface defects that impair the suitability of the resin for the desired optical application. Moreover, the manufacturing method of resin is disclosed. The surface defects contained in the resin are in the form of transparent fluorescent particles, and the number of particles having a size of 15 to 250 μm is 1.8 particles / g or less, and the number is obtained by using a 5 μm pore size Teflon filter with a polycarbonate solution in methylene chloride. The residue remaining after filtration through is determined by excitation at 400 to 440 nm, 25 times overall magnification and 40 millisecond illumination time. Polycarbonates are suitable for making films of improved optical properties. |
