A hybrid energy storage device according to the present invention includes at least one cell comprising at least one anode, at least one cathode, a separator disposed between the at least one anode and the at least one cathode, and an electrolyte . The at least one anode comprises an active material comprising tabs and lead extending from a side of the at least one anode. The at least one cathode includes an active carbon material, a tab extending from a side of the at least one cathode, and a lead lug encapsulating the tab. A first cast-on lead strap is located on the tab extending from the at least one anode. A second cast-on lead strap is positioned on the lead lugs of the at least one cathode. |
