Provided is a battery capable of obtaining excellent cycle characteristics and safety. Electrolyte solution is provided with the positive electrode 21 and the negative electrode 22, and the electrolyte solution is impregnated in the separator 23 provided between the positive electrode 21 and the negative electrode 22. The negative electrode 22 has an insulating coating 22C on the negative electrode active material layer 22B provided on the negative electrode current collector 22A. This coating 22C contains an insulating material such as a metal hydroxide and a metal oxide, and forms a plurality of divided plates. Internal short circuit is prevented by the insulation of the coating 22C, and detachment of the negative electrode active material layer 22B and decomposition of the electrolytic solution are suppressed by a plurality of coatings. In addition, even when a short circuit occurs, the heat generation is suppressed by the heat absorption of the coating 22C. |
