titleOfInvention | Alkylation Method with Alkyl Halide Promoted Ionic Liquid Catalyst |
abstract | The present invention relates to a process for producing high quality gasoline blending components from a purification process stream by alkylating light isoparaffins with olefins using an ionic liquid catalyst. The alkylation process comprises a mixture of one or more acidic ionic liquids and one or more alkyl halides with a hydrocarbon mixture comprising one or more olefins having 2 to 6 carbon atoms and one or more isoparaffins having 3 to 6 carbon atoms under alkylation conditions. Contacting with the comprising catalyst. In one embodiment, the acidic ionic liquid comprises aluminum trichloride (AlCl 3 ) hydrocarbyl substituted pyridinium halides of the general formulas (A), (B), (C) and (D), hydrocarbyl substituted Is a chloroaluminate ionic liquid prepared by mixing with imidazolium halide, trialkylammonium hydrohalide or tetraalkylammonium halide, respectively, wherein R = H, methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl or hexyl group and X is Halide, preferably chloride, and R 1 and R 2 = H, methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl or hexyl groups and wherein R 1 and R 2 may be the same or different and R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 = methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl or hexyl groups and wherein R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 may be the same or different. |
