abstract The present invention relates to an implant comprising a metal structure for use in a surgical procedure, in which the metal structure is provided with a coarse face in the area of the implant that will be in contact with the bone. At this time, the rough area is provided with a ceramic coating including hydroxyapatite by a thermal spraying process. Disinfectant ions of silver are absorbed into the ceramic coating and gradually filter out fluid entering the body after implantation. The hydroxyapatite strengthens the bone that is regenerated in the implant, and the silver ions inhibit infection.
