abstract The present invention relates to (a) at least two sets of differently colored particles in a substantially transparent fluid, or (b) at least one set of colored particles in a fluid, wherein the fluid differs in color from at least one set of colored particles. Wherein the set of one or more colored particles comprises one or more electrophoretic particles having a core-shell structure. At least one electrophoretic particle comprises a shell and a core disposed within the shell, wherein the core comprises a colorant and a fluorescent compound. The electric field may be applied directly to the ink fluid, and one or more sets of colored particles having a core-shell structure are movable in the ink fluid by the electric field.
