abstract | A method of making a multicolor electrophoretic display is described. The method comprises providing microcapsules having a static charge and comprising a transparent shell and a display medium therein, wherein the display medium is comprised of two or more different groups of colored particles (a) or different colors in a substantially transparent fluid. At least one group of colored particles (b) in the fluid having the constituents thereof. The method includes delivering the microcapsules to a substrate to attract the microcapsules' electrostatic charge to the substrate, thereby forming a display layer of the microcapsules on the substrate. The method includes positioning a conductive substrate adjacent the substrate such that the substrate lies between the display layer and the conductive substrate. In use, the conductive substrate applies an electric field to the display layer, and the particle groups of each microcapsule in the display layer can be moved in the microcapsules by the electric field. |
