abstract It is an object of the present invention to efficiently remove polar substances present in α-methylstyrene and to provide high purity α-methylstyrene. The present invention discloses a method for purifying α-methylstyrene by reacting a polar substance contained in α-methylstyrene in the presence of a basic substance and separating the reactant of the polar substance and α-methylstyrene.
