Camptothecin derivatives as chemoradiosensitizers |
abstract |
Camptothecin-based compounds are useful for the treatment of neoplasia in mammalian subjects when administered to a subject in combination with radiotherapy, i.e., a radioactive material from a subject's external source or a therapy treating the tumor. By placing one or more electron-affinity groups around the camptothecin structure, the camptothecin-based compounds can be modified to enhance their value in combination with radiotherapy. Novel camptothecin-based compounds are disclosed that are useful in the treatment of cancer by administration of the novel compounds alone or in combination with radiotherapy. |
