abstract The present invention comprises treating a first intermediate compound with an organoaluminum-based Lewis acid catalyst under conditions effective to produce a delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol compound or derivative thereof. It relates to a process for preparing a navinol compound or a derivative thereof. Another aspect of the invention comprises reacting a first starting compound with a second starting compound in the presence of a metal triflate catalyst and conditions effective for forming the cannavidiols or cannavidiolate compounds Or it relates to a method for producing a cannabidioleate compound. The invention also relates to compounds of formula (I)n n n (I)n n n Wherein R 8 , R 9 and R 10 are the same or different and are independently H, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl, substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl or halo, R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are defined in the present invention.
