In an antimicrobial amide derivative that functions as a quorum sensing antagonist and a method for preventing formation of a biofilm using the same, the antimicrobial amide derivative has a structure in which butyric acid or 3-oxododecanoic acid is amide-bonded with an aromatic compound having an amine group. Antimicrobial amide derivatives have a chemical structure similar to that used by bacteria to communicate with them, acting as a quorum sensing antagonist that interferes with the communication between them. Accordingly, the antimicrobial amide derivatives can effectively block the growth of microorganisms and the formation of biofilms. |
