titleOfInvention Membrane sterilization
abstract A method for disinfecting or sterilizing an article or portion of an article comprising the following steps:n n n Encapsulating the article or part of the article in a container having a wall at least partially semipermeable fabric or membrane; And introducing a vaporizable amount of biocide, preferably hydrogen peroxide in the form of solution, vapor, liquid or preferably inhalant into the vessel. The semipermeable fabric or membrane is selected to provide a barrier to entry of microorganisms while allowing vapor to pass from inside the vessel to the outside. The biocide is allowed to exit the vessel through the membrane above atmospheric pressure and fluid, for example air, is allowed to flow adjacent to the outside of the membrane to promote vapor removal from the inside side. The article is exposed for a time sufficient to disinfect or sterilize the article.
