Compounds of the present invention are novel oxm peptide derivatives in which one or more amino acids of an oxyntomodulin (oxm) sequence are modified. oxm amino acids 15-24 to 968-977 of α-latrotoxin peptide (and subtypes thereof) or 15-24 of exendin-4 (and subtypes thereof), or a combination of these site sequences Modification or modification of amino acids 27-33 of oxm to 27-33 of exendin-4 (and subtypes thereof) or addition of amino acids at the C-terminus of the peptide indicates oxm-like activity that reduces food intake In certain embodiments, continuous oxm derivatives can be produced that exhibit activity that reduces food intake more than oxm. |
