titleOfInvention | Improve stabilization of biological materials |
abstract | Biological materials such as vaccines can be stabilized in certain glassy materials that are soluble in water. It has been proposed to form these vitreous materials as powders suspended in a non-aqueous liquid for injection into a patient. Since the particles tend to settle on the floor, there is a problem in maintaining the suspension. This problem is solved by adding a blowing agent to the solution in which the glass is formed. The blowing agent decomposes when the solution evaporates, thereby forming cavities in the resulting glassy material structure and reducing the density to match the density of the liquid to be suspended. Other uses of the present invention are compositions for rapid dissolution in an aqueous solution immediately prior to use or as compositions for inhalation. |
