The present invention relates to an anticoagulant comprising a first element capable of inhibiting coagulation and a second element capable of targeting activated platelets, wherein upon administration, the second element directs the first element directly to activated platelets. . Also provided are probes comprising (a) a binding element capable of targeting activated platelets for detecting vascular abnormalities, and (b) a label. Applicants show that agents and probes directed directly to activated platelets are useful for the treatment and diagnosis of coagulation disorders. |
