abstract The present invention relates to a method for determining a taxonomy of fish belonging to a family of Sami (Family Rajidae) or stingray and related polynucleotide probes, DNA chips and kits, in particular DNA from blood, cells or tissues of fish belonging to the group Extracting; Performing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) on the extracted DNA to obtain a PCR product; Binding the PCR product to a polynucleotide probe comprising a nucleotide sequence identical to or complementary to the DNA sequence of any one of SEQ ID NO: 3 to SEQ ID NO: 16; And determining a taxonomy to which the fish belong, by determining whether the fish belong to the genus, or a genotype for a fish belonging to a number of skates or stingrays. By analyzing the assay simply, quickly and accurately, the species or family to which the fish belongs can be determined.
