titleOfInvention Compositions for Forming Wet Fiber Based Composites
abstract A wet fiber based composition is provided comprising a wet glass fiber, a water dispersion polymer resin, and gypsum. In addition, components comprising melamine formaldehyde, fillers, coupling agents, acetic acid, accelerators and / or curing agents may be added to the composition. Gypsum may be α-gypsum, β-gypsum, or a combination thereof. The wet glass fibers may be wet chopped glass fibers or wet continuous rovings. The combination of wet glass fibers, water-dispersible polymer resins, and gypsum results in synergistic effects resulting in composite products having water resistance, fire resistance and improved mechanical properties. In one exemplary embodiment, a wet fiber substrate composition is used to form a gypsum board that can be molded into various composite products. In another exemplary embodiment, the glass mat may be laminated alternately with a layer of gypsum / polymer slurry to form several layers of thin gypsum board.n n n n Wet fiber based compositions, glass fiber reinforced gypsum, and drywall.
