abstract | The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of xylylenediamine by two stage hydrogenation of raw material phthalonitrile in a solvent. The main steps of the invention are the first hydrogenation step and the second hydrogenation step. In a first hydrogenation step, a raw phthalonitrile solution in a solvent comprising liquid ammonia is fed to the inlet of the first reaction zone, and hydrogenation is carried out in the first reaction zone in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, thereby producing the raw phthalonitrile. The nitrile group in it is hydrogenated with an aminomethyl group. A portion of the hydrogenation product solution from the first reaction zone is circulated to the inlet of the first reaction zone and the remainder is introduced into a second hydrogenation step where further hydrogenation proceeds. |
