Improved catalysts having the formula: Mo 1 V a (Te and / or Sb) b (Nb and / or Ta) c Si d O x wherein a is 0.006 to 1, b 0.006 to 1, c is 0.001 To 0.5, d is from 0 to 3.5, x is dependent on the oxidation state of the other elements], a Mo-V- (Te and / or Sb) -O mixed metal optionally comprising Nb and / or Ta and / or Si.
