abstract The present invention relates to a novel composition for treating obesity. Specifically, it relates to a composition for treating obesity containing metformin.n n n According to the present invention, metformin may improve leptin sensitivity and increase appetite suppression and fat reduction effects. The appetite suppressing effect of metformin appears to be related to the action of leptin. In addition, metformin has been shown to increase the appetite suppression and fat reduction effects of leptin in normal diet rats and to restore leptin sensitivity in rats with high-fat diets with leptin resistance. Therefore, the present invention is expected to be used as a new composition for treating obesity, including metformin, which is clinically usable for obese people.
