titleOfInvention | Microfluidic Analysis Device |
abstract | A microfluidic analysis device is provided for determining the presence or absence of an analyte in a fluid test sample. The present invention provides a technique for achieving continuous flow in a microfluidic device by using one or more inlet channels, an assay zone, and a plurality of wicking channels disposed around the perimeter of the assay zone. In one embodiment, for example, the wicking channel extends radially from the analysis zone. As a result of certain types of microfluidic devices, the analysis can be performed in a "single step" that does not require active forces (eg, pressure sources, electrokinetics, etc.) to induce the flow of fluid test samples through the device. . Likewise, the flow rate is controlled such that the residence time of the fluid test sample in the assay zone is long enough to account for the desired reaction and / or detection. |
