FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to dark flat elements, preferably dark flats formed from plastics, lacquer coatings, or fibrous materials, having reduced density, low thermal conductivity, and low solar absorption. The flat member has a globally high reflectance in the near infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum, in order to reduce heating by sunlight in the near infrared region, even in the dark coloring in the visible light region. A low density and low thermal conductivity can be obtained by inserting a lightweight filling material into the flat member. The flat member is used for darkly colored surfaces for aesthetic or technical reasons and is not heated by sunlight and only generates little heat when touched by the hand or other parts of the body.
