abstract |
A multi-film wire grid polarizer 10a for polarizing light 12 comprises a stack of thin films 18 disposed on a substrate 14, with a wire grid array 22 of elongated metal elements 26 being described above. It has a length longer than the wavelength of light and a period shorter than half the wavelength of the light. One of the above films may include thin films 18a-c having a refractive index greater than that of the substrate. One of the thin films may comprise an insulating array of nonmetallic elements 38, 46. |
