The present invention relates to coryneform bacteria which have L-amino acid production capacity and which have been modified to reduce acetyl-CoA hydrolase activity. The bacterium is a L-amino acid produced by a biosynthetic pathway using pyruvic acid as an intermediate, for example L-glutamic acid, L-arginine, L-glutamine, L-proline, L-alanine, L-valine and L-lysine.
