abstract |
The present invention relates to an ion conductive binder for use in membrane electrode assemblies for solid electrolyte fuel cells, consisting of a polymer electrolyte membrane and two gas diffusion electrodes bonded to each other via a polymer electrolyte membrane sandwiched therebetween. The ion conductive binder includes a polymer block (A) and a flexible polymer block (B) having an aromatic vinyl compound unit whose α-carbon is a quaternary carbon as a main repeating unit. The polymer block (A) contains an ion conductive group. The present invention also relates to a solution or suspension of the ion conductive binder, a membrane electrode assembly, and a solid polymer electrolyte battery. The ion conductive binder, membrane electrode assembly and solid polymer fuel cell are economical and environmentally friendly, but have excellent moldability and oxidative stability. |
