titleOfInvention Airbag inflator
abstract The present invention relates to an airbag inflator (10), wherein the airbag inflator (10) of the present invention comprises a first end portion (10A), a second end portion (10C) forming a combustion chamber, and an intermediate diffusion portion. A housing made of 10B, which forms a pressure vessel 12 for storing inert gas 13 in the first end portion 10A, the second end portion 10C having a separate combustion chamber 90. A cylindrical outer inflator housing (11) having an intermediate diffusion portion (10B) interposed in the first and second end portions (10A, 10C) to allow gas to escape from the airbag inflator (10) to the airbag. Equipped with. And the airbag inflator 10 of the present invention has a first gas generating subassembly 23 in communication with the inert gas 13 disposed and stored in the first end portion 10A. A second gas generator subassembly 80 is disposed within the second end 10C and is isolated from the inert gas 13 by one or more bursting disks 24A, 24B, 24C. The airbag inflator 10 may act to activate one or both sides of the gas generator subassemblies 23 and 80. Activation can be done simultaneously or sequentially to completely fill the airbag at a very high speed or to extend it slower.
