abstract The present invention relates to a torsional vibration damper or other vibration damping device having a rubber vibration absorbing component. The rubber component is a peroxide-cured composition comprising 100 parts of an ethylene-alpha-olefin elastomer and a substantially isobutylene or butene polymer having a viscosity average molecular weight of at least about 5,000. The polymer may also be a copolymer of isobutylene and isoprene. The addition of isobutylene polymer to the ethylene-alpha-olefin elastomer composition increases the vibration damping properties of the rubber.
