A file system for using a metadata partition instead of a VAT for a write-once disc is enabled, which file system uses a pseudo-overwrite method to provide a plurality of tracks, in particular a plurality of tracks for metadata and file data. A track is provided. When the present invention is applied to a drive apparatus supporting a pseudo-overwrite medium, the file system distinguishes data for overwriting from data to be added (S1701). When data is newly recorded in the logical sector, the drive apparatus writes the data in the physical sector to which the logical sector corresponds (S1704). When the data to be overwritten is data stored in the logical sector, the data is recorded in another unrecorded physical sector in the volume space (S1704), and remapping information is recorded (S1705). The remapping information defines the original address of the physical sector and the remapping address of the physical sector in which data is recorded. |
