abstract In the present invention, at least one of the metal particles, the metal oxide particles or the composite metal oxide particles is a metal source, the thermosetting resin is a carbon source, and at least the particle surface or all of the particles produced by in situ are metal carbide particles. The present invention relates to a carbon composite material and a method for producing the same, which are dispersed in a carbon matrix, a carbon fiber matrix, or a carbon / carbon fiber matrix and are free of free metal particles. For this reason, a carbon composite material having a high friction coefficient, high heat resistance and abrasion resistance, and a method for producing the carbon composite material are provided.
