titleOfInvention | Radical Curable Resin Composition |
abstract | The present invention relates to a resin composition for radical curing comprising component (I) containing a reactive carbon-carbon unsaturated moiety and component (II) containing an XH-group, wherein X is not C or O. The resin composition is (a) substantially free of photoinitiators; (b) the average number of reactive carbon-carbon unsaturated portions of component (I) is greater than 2; (c) the average number of XH-groups of component (II) is at least 2, wherein at least one of the XH-groups of the XH-component is a thiol group; (d) whereby at least one of the average numbers of (b) and (c) is greater than two; (e) up to 5 mole% of the reactive unsaturated moieties may be homopolymerized; (f) each is present in mono-ene functional alkylene form; (g) The molar ratio of the XH-group and the reactive unsaturated moiety is from 4: 1 to 1: 4, provided that the RU component is not tris- (nobon-5-en-2-carboxy) propoxypropane. The present invention also relates to a method for curing such a resin composition, in particular by cold curing. Finally, the present invention also relates to a novel process for the synthesis of Diels-Alder adducts of resin components containing cyclopentadiene and telechelic carbon-carbon unsaturated moieties. The resin composition can provide a building material that has a tack-free surface by rapid and adjustable radical curing and does not have any problem of so-called oxygen inhibition. Suitable applications are for use in chemical anchoring, roofing, flooring, re-lining, SMC and BMC. |
