The present invention relates to a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for type 2 diabetes in response to activation of PPARγ (Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor γ). Effectively, it can be usefully used as a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing type 2 diabetes.n n n <Formula 1>n n n n n n n n 20 (S) -Protopanaxatriol of Formula 1 regulates the expression of genes related to glucose metabolism by activating PPARγ, and increased the expression of glycotransmitter protein GLUT4 (Glucose transporter4). Therefore, 20 (S) -Protopanaxatriol of the present invention can be very usefully used for the prevention or treatment of type 2 diabetes. |
