abstract |
The field emission apparatus used as the backlight of the liquid crystal display has a conductive anode having a light emitting layer and a cathode separated from the anode by a spacer. The cathode has nanofiber electron emitters. For example, nanofiber electron emitters include a substrate, a conductive film attached to the substrate, and discrete semi-spheroidal nanofiber clusters capable of emitting electrons at high current densities and low field strengths. |
