Crosslinked Hyaluronic Acid Composition for Tissue Augmentation |
abstract |
The hyaluronic acid (HA) composition of the present invention comprises crosslinked water insoluble hydrated HA gel particles. HA includes a crosslink represented by the following structural formula: HA'-UR 2 -U-HA '. Variables are defined herein. The method of augmenting tissue in a subject involves inserting a needle into the subject at a site of the subject in need of tissue augmentation (wherein the needle is coupled to a syringe loaded with the HA composition), and pressing the syringe to pressurize the HA composition. This includes delivering to. The process for preparing HA compositions forms water insoluble dehydrated crosslinked HA particles, separates water insoluble dehydrated particles by average diameter, selects subsets of particles by average diameter, and dehydrates. Hydrating a subset of the particles into a physiologically suitable aqueous solution. Another method for preparing a crosslinked HA composition involves crosslinking a precursor of crosslinked HA with biscarbodiimide in the presence of pH buffer and dehydrating the crosslinked HA. It also includes a method of augmenting tissue in a subject in need of tissue augmentation. The method of stabilizing crosslinked HA involves hydrating the water insoluble dehydrated crosslinked HA with a physiologically suitable aqueous solution comprising a local anesthetic, wherein the value of the storage coefficient G 'of the stabilized composition is not stabilized. At least about 110% of the value of G 'of the composition. Also included are stabilized HA compositions. |
