abstract |
The present invention relates to a method for reducing cholecystokinin (CCK) concentration in mammalian plasma or maintaining basal levels. The present invention also provides a method for treating pain in a mammal, in particular a method for treating abdominal pain in a mammal. The method comprises administering to the mammal a composition comprising a non-pancreatic protease or a non-pancreatic protease. The methods of the present invention are particularly useful for treating abdominal pain in mammals suffering from acute or chronic pancreatitis and related conditions. |
